As you prepare for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, here is a roundup of the 10 most iconic green dresses from our favorite celebrities over the year.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez made history when she wore a plunging green, leaf-print dress by Versace. No, she literally made history. After the singer donned the iconic gown to the 2000 Grammys, Google created Google Images.
Two decades after J-Lo first wore the gown, she once again made history at the Spring 2020 womenswear collection.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is known for her many iconic looks. But, we can’t forget the gorgeous emerald-green gown designed by Elie Saab she wore to the 76th Annual Golden Globes in January 2019.
With a high slit and a cascading train, the Chicago actress showed off her impeccable sense of style.

Colors define Taylor Swift’s eras. While Red is probably the most well known, the singer has also leaned into green. At the 2024 Golden Globes, Taylor wore a sparkly and snaky green Gucci dress which many fans thought hinted at Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
While the “Invisible String” singer announced she won’t be releasing that album, she did show off how good she looks in green.

Adele often makes listeners feel blue, her songs evoking sadness through her moody voice. But to the 2017 Grammys, where the singer won five Grammys including Album of the Year, Adele wore an olive green, long-sleeved Givenchy dress. We’ll never forget the gown or when she said: “I’m very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé.”

In 2019, Olivia Colman took home the Oscar for Best Actress and did so while wearing a classy, dark green gown paired with a bejeweled black train. A recent addition to the iconic green dress list is Kate Hudson after her appearance at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15. While the actress didn’t take home an award, she truly looked like a movie star.
The Song Sung Blue actress dazzled in a strapless teal Armani Privé gown accessorized with over 41 carats of rare green diamonds by Garatti. The jewels were worth a jaw-dropping $35 million and featured a 15-carat Fancy Deep Green diamond framed by radiant white diamonds.

Green comes in all shades. In 2024, Emma Stone took home her second Academy Award for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in Poor Things. She accepted the award in a mint green silk jacquard Louis Vuitton gown with a strapless neckline, corseted bodice, an exaggerated ruffled waist, and a long, mermaid-style skirt.
Her best friend, Jennifer Lawrence, presented Emma her award, just before the actress told the crowd: “Hoo boy, my dress is broken.”

There would be no green dress list without mentioning Keira Knightley‘s gown in the 2007 film, Atonement. In a pivotal scene alongside James McAvoy, the actress wore an emerald-green, lush, low-cut gown by costume designer Jacqueline Durran.
Since its first appearance on screen, the gown, which earned Jacqueline an Oscar nomination for costumes, has been referenced many times including by Alexa Chung.

Green made a real comeback in 2024 when Wicked premiered. Our Elphaba, Cynthia Erivo, showed off green skin in the film, but on the red carpet, she showed off how to style it. While there are many green dresses to choose from, my favorite of Cynthia’s is the vinyl Louis Vuitton gown she wore to the Los Angeles premiere.
The actress paired it with a floor length feathered stole, telling Vogue: “It just feels electric—[it lets] my character truly own the color green in such big, bold way!
