There’s a lot of stuff to stream nowadays. In hopes of helping you watch more good movies and TV, we compile some of the most exciting titles streaming across all platforms in our weekly column, What To Watch.
Vladimir (Netflix)
Rachel Weisz is back with a new show, this time, taking a crack at the older woman/younger man romance, a genre that’s gained increasing prominence in recent years. The story follows a professor who becomes obsessed with a younger co-worker, all while her husband is facing reprimands over past affairs with younger students. It co-stars Leo Woodall and John Slattery.
War Machine (Netflix)
“War Machine” is Netflix’s latest sci-fi movie, starring a group of elite U.S. military officers who encounter a being from another world while running a training exercise. It stars Alan Ritchson, Dennis Quaid, and more.
Rooster (HBO Max)
Steve Carell is back with a new show. “Rooster,” developed by the team behind “Shrinking” and “Scrubs,” follows Carrell as a writer trying to help his daughter navigate a crisis, all the while trying to mend their damaged relationship.
Ted (Peacock)
“Ted,” based on the movie of the same name, follows the titular teddy bear and his tight friendship with John. The series follows them in their early years, when John is a 16-year-old and facing high school with his raunchy and unpredictable best friend.
Outlander (Starz)
“Outlander” is back with a final season. Based on the lengthy series of novels, the show follows a time traveler from the ’40s England and her romance with a Highland warrior from 1743.
Blue Moon (Netflix)
If you want to catch up on this year’s list of nominated movies, there’s still time! The Oscars are next Sunday. “Blue Moon” was nominated for best actor, with Ethan Hawke portraying Lorenz Hart, the beloved American lyricist, on the night of the premiere of “Oklahoma!,” one of Broadway’s most famous and beloved shows.
Best in Show (Netflix)
Lastly, it’s a great time to revisit the work of Catherine O’Hara, one of the great comedic and dramatic actresses. She died earlier this year, leaving behind a legacy of amazing films and TV shows. “Best in Show” is one of her funniest and most memorable, following a group of dog show contestants as they prepare to compete in a prestigious competition.
