Morrissey has been forced to cancel a string of dates, quietly announcing the news one week before the first show was scheduled to take place on Friday August 14, 2026.

A notice on his official website featured the headline “Morrissey doesn’t cancel Vegas,” directly above text stating: “The shows cannot happen for logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control,” hinting that he did not wish to cancel the shows

The posts were shared on August 8, a day after emails went out to fans.

An email sent to ticket buyers offered a similar explanation: “Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled. Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.”

The 67-year-old was scheduled to perform four shows at the Wynn Las Vegas’s Encore Theater on Friday, August 14, Saturday, August 15, Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19.

A statement on the Ticketmaster page for all four Las Vegas shows reads: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

Ticketmaster also states that anyone who purchased a ticket through the company will receive a refund to the original method of payment within two to three weeks.

The Las Vegas residency is the latest in a long history of last-minute cancellations throughout the English singer-songwriter’s solo career – and marks his third in 2026 alone.

The singer, who found fame in the 1980s with The Smiths, also canceled his first scheduled concert of 2026 in Rancho Mirage, California due to “an adverse reaction to a prescription medication,” according to his website.

In March he also failed to appear for a planned concert in Valencia, Spain writing on his website that the hotel he was staying in was an “indescribable hell” that left him “unable to rest.”

“Morrissey has described his hotel on Plaza Manises as… ‘indescribable hell. It will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement.’ Tonight’s scheduled show in Valencia has been rendered impossible due to sleep deprivation,” the statement continued.

“Morrissey drove from Milan to Valencia but has been unable to rest in Valencia due to noise. The show is not canceled. Circumstances render the show impossible.”

Morrissey also canceled shows after credible death threats

In 2025 he also canceled two US shows after “credible” threats to his life were made online.

Court documents revealed that a Bluesky user had made death threats aimed at the singer on September 4. The user, real name Noah Castellano, allegedly threatened Morrossey’s life in a public  message, claiming he would be attending the September 12 show in Ottawa where he would “kill” the singer.

Morrissey attended and performed during the September 12 show, but citing safety concerns tied to that threat, canceled two additional dates in the US.
