Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan will always have “Please Please Please.”
The couple have ended their relationship after one year of dating, according to multiple reports.
An insider told Us Weekly that they don’t believe the pop star, 25, and Saltburn actor, 32, will get back together, having previously split once before. A source told People magazine they “are both young and career-focused,” so life is taking them in different directions.

They’re certainly thriving professionally. On Dec. 4, Spotify announced that Carpenter’s “Espresso” was the most-streamed song of 2024, with more than 1.6 billion streams globally. She stars in her own Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter, premiering Dec. 6.
The Irish actor was busy this fall promoting his film Bird. He also filmed Peaky Blinders with Cillian Murphy for Netflix. Since the breakup announcement, Keoghan was photographed on the set of Crime 101 in Los Angeles.

September 2023: Carpenter and Keoghan attended the Givenchy fashion show in Paris and were reportedly introduced.
December 2023: They were photographed on a dinner date in L.A.’s Brentwood neighborhood. Prior to that, she had been linked to Shawn Mendes, while Keoghan became single that year after welcoming his son, Brando, with former girlfriend Alyson Sandro in 2022.
January 2024: The pair were snapped together checking out Luna Luna, a pop-up art experience in L.A. — and sharing a kiss.
February 2024: They attended W magazine’s Grammy after-party, playfully pretending to try to dodge a photographer.
March 2024: Carpenter had been touring as Taylor Swift’s opening act, and Keoghan attended all three of her Singapore shows. A fan captured a video of him waiting with open arms when she walked offstage.
Back in L.A., Keoghan, who was on the awards show circuit for Saltburn, and Carpenter made their red carpet debut — with more playful posing — at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. He was wearing a “Sabrina” friendship bracelet.
April 2024: Carpenter made her Coachella debut, and Keoghan was her biggest fan, filming her with his phone.
May 2024: The pair attended the Met Gala, making for a stylish duo.
Keoghan helped the “Nonsense” singer celebrate her 25th birthday at a party in Brooklyn, N.Y.
June 2024: Carpenter hard-launched their relationship by casting Keoghan as her man in her video for “Please Please Please.” He played a bad boy, getting arrested over and over, with Carpenter sticking by his side and bailing him out of jail.
Asked about her “boyfriend” by Rolling Stone, Carpenter replied, “How do I skirt around this question?” She did say, “The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.
August 2024: Carpenter called Keoghan “one of the best actors of this generation” while talking to Variety about the “Please Please Please” video. “Getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special,” she said.
As her megahit album Short n’ Sweet dropped, it was reported that her relationship with Keoghan was on and off.
October 2024: He attended her “Short n’ Sweet Tour” stop in Virginia. When she sang her song “Juno,” she tweaked her lyrics to shout out the The Banshees of Inisherin actor.
November 2024: Keoghan was asked about their relationship on Spotify’s The Louis Theroux Podcast and replied, “Listen, all I’m going to say is I’m incredibly blessed. Such a strong, independent lady who’s massively talented and, yeah, pretty special.”
December 2024: People magazine broke the news that the couple “decided to take a break.” While that report made it seem potentially open-ended, a source told Us Weekly that their friends don’t believe “they’re getting back together.” Their careers have taken them on different paths.
