Alexandra of Hanover has officially taken a major step toward independence. The youngest daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco has moved into her own apartment, addressing the emotional transition in a personal essay that she shared on her website.
Known for her love of literature, a passion she shares with her mother and her half-sister Charlotte Casiraghi, Alexandra frequently publishes reflections, reading lists, and original writing online. It was through one of these posts that she confirmed her move, detailing the excitement and the anxiety that come with leaving home and afflicts people of all sorts of backgrounds and nationalities.
A new chapter in Los Angeles
The daughter of Ernst August of Hanover is currently based in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, she attended the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina alongside her longtime boyfriend, Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, and her uncle, Prince Albert II of Monaco. Between sporting events, Alexandra also made time to visit some of her favorite bookstores, a ritual that inspired some of her written reflections.
In her post, she revealed that she moved into her “first grown-up apartment” at the beginning of the year. The process, she explained, had been months in the making. She spent much of late 2025 weighing options, ordering furniture, and navigating the inevitable delays. Most pieces arrived just before Christmas, with the final mattress delivered after she returned from her travels. Only then did the space begin to feel complete.
Now, she says, she and her partner are finally enjoying a home that feels organized and intentional.
The emotional weight of leaving home
Despite the excitement of independence, Alexandra admitted that the transition was not entirely smooth. Leaving the family residence and leaving her mother living alone came with some mixed emotions.
Alexandra described her first night in the new apartment as overwhelming, confessing that nerves kept her awake. Adjusting to a new neighborhood, new rhythms, and a more permanent sense of adulthood required patience. Over time, however, the unfamiliar became comforting.
Alexandra compared the move to previous relocations during her university years, particularly the time spent living in New York between semesters. But those experiences, she noted, always felt temporary. This time is different, with the move signaling a more permanent change.
Wedding speculation grows
The timing of her independence has fueled fresh engagement rumors. Alexandra has been in a relationship with Ben-Sylvester Strautmann for a decade, and whispers of a royal wedding have circulated within Monaco for years. Though no official announcement has been made, her decision to establish a shared home with her partner has only intensified speculation.
For now, Alexandra appears focused on building her own identity, separate yet still connected to Monaco’s storied royal legacy. Whether wedding bells are next remains to be seen.
