Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell became first-time parents this week as they welcomed their son, Bowden. The couple, who have been together since 2018, will be raising their newborn at their Brighton home.

Although Dianne’s family live out in Australia, the duo can count on some family support, as Joe’s older sister, Zoella, who is also based in the Sussex city, will be on hand as the pair navigate the challenges of parenthood.

Just like Joe, Zoella, real name Zoe Sugg, is a YouTube star, and the 35-year-old is also a mother to two children, who she shares with her fiancé, Alfie Deyes.

The star has already proven to be a rock for the family, with Dianne sharing in 2019 that she had confided in the mother-of-two when she had issues with anxiety. She told Happiful at the time: “I have discussed anxiety with her a fair bit, because she’s very open about it, which is great because so many girls now have it. It’s nice to know that they’re not on their own.”

Here’s all you need to know about Joe’s famous sister…

Career

Taking the moniker of Zoella, the star launched her YouTube channel in February 2009 while working as a junior interior decorator. Her initial content focused on fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips, before later expanding into beauty hauls and other related products. She later launched a second channel, Zoe Sugg, which features vlogs on her daily life.

With both of her channels, the star currently has over 15 million subscribers, more than double the amount that her younger brother has achieved with his vlogs and comedy sketches.

The influencer rocketed to fame thanks to YouTube

Zoella’s content has proven to be incredibly popular over the year, and in the early stages of her career, she was sweeping awards ceremonies, winning at the Teen Choice Awards and Cosmopolitan Blog Awards.

The influencer’s success on YouTube led to her launching her own beauty line in 2014. The line was called Zoella Beauty and featured products including bath bombs, lip gloss and body lotion. She expanded the business in 2016 with a set of homeware products.

However, one of the star’s more unexpected career moments came in 2014 when she wrote Girl Online, a young adult novel focusing on a 15-year-old girl who unexpectedly goes viral with her own social media content. Zoella has since penned Cordially Invited and The Magpie Society.

Relationship

Since 2012, Zoella has been in a relationship with YouTuber Alfie Deyes. After 11 years of dating, Alfie proposed to his partner, although the couple are yet to walk down the aisle. Confirming the news, Zoella shared a video of her kissing her new fiancé, before running to the camera and showing off her gorgeous engagement ring. “Well this happened today,” she captioned the video.

The pair share two daughters, Ottilie, four, and Novie, two. Speaking about her pregnancy, the star admitted that it wasn’t an easy journey. On social media, she shared: “The fact that my body’s response to high levels of anxiety is to retch feels like a bit of a joke considering I’m an emetephobe but there we go.

“This coupled with pregnancy symptoms and my phobia felt like living in a bit of a hazy nightmare for a few weeks.”
