Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer are going their separate ways after more than seven years as a married couple.

The comedian, 44, shared the update on Instagram on Friday, Dec. 12, posting a photo of herself, Fischer, 45, and their son riding the New York City subway.

“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

A source close to the former couple tells People that the split has been smooth. “There’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve just been finalizing a few things.”

Schumer and Fischer tied the knot in February 2018 after beginning their relationship in 2017. They share one child, son Gene, who was born in May 2019.

Rumors surrounding the state of their marriage had been swirling online in recent weeks. On Nov. 13, a source told PEOPLE, “They’re privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have. They are both committed to the relationship.”

Around that same time, Schumer pushed back on the speculation. In an Instagram Stories post shared a week earlier, she included a photo of New York City while praising Hulu’s divorce-lawyer drama All’s Fair, adding, “And Chris and I are still married.”

She again addressed the chatter in a Dec. 1 Instagram post, which also included a detailed update about her health. “Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism.”

“Fingers crossed we make it through,” she added at the time. “He’s the best.”

On Nov. 11, Schumer wiped her Instagram feed of past photos, including images with Fischer. Alongside a new post, she wrote, “I actually left my house tonight. Who’s proud? I’m feeling good and happy. Deleted my old pics for no reason!”

The pair were last seen together publicly in June, when they attended the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the documentary Room To Move.
