Andrés Cantor Brings His Beloved Goal Call to the 2027 Women’s World Cup

The Women’s FIFA World Cup 2027 is taking shape. The World Cup and the official draw will air as part of Netflix’s live programming, marking the first time Netflix holds the tournament’s broadcast rights in the US and Canada. To make the transmission feel as major as it should, they’ve recruited the help of one of the world’s most iconic sports broadcasters: Andrés Cantor. 

Netflix shared the news in a press release, including a statement from Cantor. “For more than four decades, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my love for soccer with audiences around the world, and I’m incredibly excited to continue that journey with Netflix ahead of a historic summer for the sport,” he said. 

“I’ve been fortunate to call some of the game’s most unforgettable moments and create memories that I will always value. Now, as Netflix continues to expand its presence at the forefront of live sports, I’m thrilled to bring the FIFA Women’s World Cup to fans across the United States and Canada and to capture the passion, emotion, and magnitude that make this tournament so special.”

If you need a refresher, Cantor is the voice behind the emblematic “GOOOOOOOL” that can be heard in the Spanish broadcast transmissions of some of the biggest soccer matches in the world. His work and passion have earned him numerous Emmy Award wins and have made Spanish soccer broadcasts famous, with people who speak different languages tuning in due to how exciting they are.

The road to the Women’s World Cup begins this December 11th, when a draw will reveal how the 32 teams will be matched up. It will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro and will be streaming on Netflix. 

The tournament officially begins on June 27th, 2027, in Brazil, with the final played on July 25th. The tournament will be made up of 64 matches and eight host cities, including Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, and more. 

The first and last match will be played at the historic Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
