Becky G is about to flip the script on everything you think you know about her. On Friday, the Mexican-American powerhouse, known for lighting up stages with chart-toppers like “Shower” and “Mamiii,” announced a personal and emotional new project.
Her first documentary, titled “Rebbeca” (her real name), is premiering at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival on June 12. “I can’t believe I am writing this right now… I am so honored that my documentary will debut at the 2025 Tribeca festival,” she shared in an emotional Instagram post. “If only younger me could see how far we’ve come…”
What ‘Rebbeca’ Is Really About
This isn’t your typical backstage tour doc, where you see a few cute rehearsal clips and a glam squad montage. “Rebbeca” is set to pull back the curtain on the real woman behind the stage name, and the spelling of the title isn’t just aesthetic. It’s a direct nod to her birth name, Rebbeca Marie Gomez, and the deeper layers of her identity.
In her own words, the film offers “a dive into the chapter of my life that this documentary captured,” specifically the period surrounding three major milestones. Her first música mexicana album, “Esquinas,” which dropped in 2023 and marked a powerful return to her roots.
Her first-ever solo tour, also in 2023, and most poignantly, her personal journey of healing, something she hints we’ll only begin to understand in the film.

Becky G has always existed at the crossroads of cultures and genres. But “Rebbeca” seems like her most personal work yet.
Who Else Is Showing Up at Tribeca 2025?
Becky won’t be alone in sharing the screen. “Rebbeca” is premiering alongside other high-profile projects, including Miley Cyrus‘ “Something Beautiful” and “Metallica Saved My Life,” which sounds as intense as you’d expect from a band that’s been melting faces for decades.
