The Academy Awards are underway, and the stars are at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood for the biggest award show of the year. Among those in attendance is Cuban-American Bella Thorne, who arrived looking gorgeous in Gucci.
The actress told HOLA! on the red carpet, she self-styled.“I self-styled and things kind of came together last minute, and I was like, I mean, I feel good in this, you know? You wanna wear something that you feel good in. And this made me feel good, so that was nice because I was like really nervous,” she admitted.
It’s Thorne’s first time at the Oscars, and she walked us through her morning, with one word coming up over and over. “Anxiety, anxiety, a small glass of champagne, more anxiety,” she said. “They beat my face, they beat my hair. I love my team so much, and, yeah, more anxiety.”
In honor of Best Picture nominee, Bugonia, we asked Thorne who she’d hope was on the ship a UFO abducted her. “Man, that is a good question. Well, I’d need my man’s there, you know, I’d need my man’s, and definitely my sister, and I think Zach Galifianakis. I need constant laughter, and he seems like a super cool dude,” she said.
Her “man” is her husband, Mark Emms, and she lit up talking about both their relationship and their latest creative collaboration. “It’s going amazingly. We just made our first movie together. We’re in post now. We’re hoping for a beautiful festival season, and yeah, it’s really refreshing to have a beautiful relationship where you get to work with your partner.”
Working together, she says, has only strengthened their bond. We asked what they’ve learned about each other, and she replied, “Gosh, so many different things, you know, I think we’re really good at when the other person is feeling very anxious or, you know, is getting scared or whatever that you know we’re really good at comforting each other when the other person needs it and kind of at some point one of us will always take over and be like, ‘OK, let me just handle this,’ and I think that that’s a really beautiful part of our relationship. It makes me feel safe, you know, and I think it’s a great feeling.”
Then, in honor of Sinners, she was asked to name her favorite sin. “Oh, my God. OK, I just, I was like, you can’t say this. This is the Oscars,” she laughed before landing on: “Oh, Gluttony.” She also shared her support for Sinners, saying she hopes it wins, and gushed about Best Director nominee Chloé Zhao, “I think she’s such an incredible filmmaker and her techniques of storytelling are really so intricate and beautiful, so I really hope she wins it because I love it, so I also hope they win.”
