Ben Affleck’s infamous back tattoo has resurfaced in public once again, reminding fans of one of Hollywood’s most talked-about celebrity ink stories. Affleck’s massive phoenix tattoo first grabbed public attention in the summer of 2015 when paparazzi photos hinted at the large, vibrant design covering his entire back. By December of that year, clearer images revealed the tattoo in full: a bright phoenix rising from flames, spanning from his shoulders down to his lower back.
At the time, Affleck insisted the tattoo was fake. During an interview with Extra’s Mario Lopez, he explained that the ink was supposedly created for a movie role.
