Brooklyn Beckham is standing firmly by his wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, pledging to “forever protect” her as the reported rift with his parents continues to make headlines. The 26 year old shared a post on Instagram on Valentine’s Day, underscoring his devoted loyalty towards Nicola, despite the ongoing tension with David and Victoria Beckham.
In the post, Brooklyn paired his message with a black-and-white photo of the couple kissing, leaning into a romantic, unwavering tone that left little room for ambiguity. He wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day baby x I am the luckiest person in the world to be able to call you my valentines every year x I love you more than you know and I will forever protect and love you x.”
The Valentine’s declaration arrives after Brooklyn sparked fresh controversy with claims about his wedding day, alleging his mother “danced very inappropriately” with him during what he says was meant to be the couple’s first dance. In a six-slide statement posted to social media last month, he described the moment as a painful turning point.
He wrote, “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead, my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” before adding, “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
Brooklyn went on to say the couple hoped to reclaim the joy of their wedding memories, explaining why they wanted to renew their vows. “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
Elsewhere in the statement, Brooklyn made clear he doesn’t see an easy path back to reconciliation, arguing that the tension stems from how his family has handled his relationship with Nicola. He claimed his parents tried to “ruin” their relationship before they married in 2022, and ended with a plea for boundaries and calm.
He shared that the couple and their “future family” simply want “peace, privacy and happiness,” a theme he returned to as he pushed back against public speculation about Nicola’s influence. “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” he wrote. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
Brooklyn also linked the family distance to his mental health, describing the shift as life-changing and deeply stabilizing. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief,” he said, before reiterating the couple’s priorities with a final line that underscored the tone of the entire statement, “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
