Cameron Diaz is rumored to have signed on to a new project. The actress, who’s slowly been returning to acting, is rumored to have signed on to a new film, starring alongside Benicio Del Toro.
Del Toro is coming off a good year, having a supporting role in the Oscar-buzzed “One Battle After Another.” He’s following that up with the movie “Reenactment,” with Grant Singer signed on to write and direct.
Diaz is rumored to be circling the co-lead role. Her most recent role came out earlier this year, with Netflix’s action-comedy “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx.
Details about the movie have been kept under wraps, but it marks a reunion between Del Toro and Singer, who previously collaborated in the film “Reptile,” a 2023 thriller movie following a detective looking into the aftermath of a murder. The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and became a big hit on Netflix, co-starring Justin Timberlake, Alicia Silverstone, and more.
“Reenactment” is expected to go into production soon.

Cameron Diaz dropped out of the entertainment world around 10 years ago, opting to focus on her marriage to Benji Madden and raising her kids. Following her return to acting this year, she revealed that she felt the urge to come back after getting the opportunity to collaborate with her friend Foxx, with whom she’s worked in different movies, including “Annie,” in 2014, and “Any Given Sunday,” in 1999.
“I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything,” she said in an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.”
© Donato Sardella“Not accepting any advances and then I got this script and thought that maybe it was time.” She also had plenty of praise for her co-star. “If I was going to leave my family for 10 hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business,” she said.
Despite not sharing details about further movies and projects, Diaz made it clear she was open to starring in more films in the future.
“I loved those 10 years for me and my family, but I thought, ‘If I let this go away, if I don’t engage again, and if I don’t give it chance, I am a fool,'” she said. “It is a privilege to make films, and we are all so lucky to do what we do. That the door was even open for me after a decade was amazing.”
