Camila Mendes is in no rush to lock in a bridal blueprint. Instead, the actress is approaching her upcoming wedding with curiosity, flexibility, and a sense of discovery as she plans the next chapter with fiancé Rudy Mancuso.
Fresh off the New York premiere of her upcoming comedy ‘Idiotka’ on February 5, Mendes offered a candid update on where things stand. Speaking with People, the 31-year-old revealed that while the engagement itself feels surreal, the wedding planning process is still very much unfolding.
“I’ve never been somebody who’s like, had a big vision for my wedding, so I’m just still learning what my wedding persona or personality is,” she shared. “I’m still getting into it, but I think we know the venue, so that’s something.”
That measured approach seems fitting for Mendes, who has long balanced high-profile projects with a grounded sense of self. The actress, best known for her breakout role on ‘Riverdale,’ confirmed her engagement to Mancuso last year after he proposed on October 24 in Los Angeles.
At the time, a representative for Mendes confirmed the news, and the couple soon celebrated with an intimate yet star-filled engagement party at Caribbean restaurant Lucia.
What Mendes did not realize, however, was that the evening had been carefully orchestrated as a surprise. According to a source who spoke with People, “She thought she was going to a birthday party for producing partner Rachel Matthews, but it was a surprise engagement party instead.” The insider added, “Rudy proposed to her in front of their family and friends.”
The celebration continued well into the night. “Around 11 p.m., they were still celebrating, so they went to Glen Powell’s tracksuit and tequila-themed birthday party,” the source added.
Mendes later reflected on the moment herself, calling the proposal the “best surprise ever” in a post shared on Instagram. “Thank you to all our loved ones who came out to celebrate this milestone with us,” she wrote. Friends and fellow celebrities quickly flooded the comments with congratulations, underscoring just how beloved the actress is within her circle.
The engagement marked another milestone in a relationship that began on set. Mendes and Mancuso first met while working on the Amazon Prime Video film ‘Música,’ which Mancuso wrote, directed, and starred in. Mendes played his on-screen love interest, and as filming progressed, so did their real life connection.
Their bond has only grown stronger since. In recent months, Mendes gave fans a glimpse into their life together during a sun-soaked getaway to Brazil, where the couple embraced the coastal scenery, sampled local treats, and soaked up time away from the spotlight.
The photos, shared on Mendes’ social media, showed a relaxed and radiant actress enjoying beach days and quiet moments with her fiancé.
Despite the whirlwind of premieres, vacations, and wedding conversations, Mendes appears content letting things unfold at their own pace. Knowing the venue may be one of the few concrete details for now, but for her, that is enough.
As she steps into this next phase, Mendes is doing it on her own terms, learning as she goes and allowing room for surprise. If the proposal itself was any indication, she is more than happy to let love lead the way.
