Cardi B is done pretending, and she’s not mincing words about why. The Grammy-winning rapper hard-launched her new relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs and wasted zero time getting candid about the emotional rollercoaster that was her marriage to Offset. In a raw and fiery X Spaces chat on June 3, Cardi opened up about her emotional state during her turbulent relationship with the Migos rapper.
“I was literally losing my mind,” she told fans. “Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind.”
Cardi, 32, said her former relationship left her mentally exhausted, anxious, and in a dangerously dark headspace, one where she even admitted, “I was going to end up going to jail, ’cause I was going to end up killing him.”
So what finally pushed her to walk away from Offset for good? According to Cardi, it wasn’t just infidelity, though, that played a part. It was the lies, the gaslighting, and the constant emotional chaos that made her feel paranoid and depressed. “It’s more than cheating,” she explained. “It’s the constant lies, the gaslighting… I was so depressed. I would wake up every single morning paranoid.” At one point, she says, even her team noticed her spiraling and urged her to seek therapy.
She did. She tried. She fell back in love. They had their daughter Blossom. But eventually, the damage was too deep. “When it’s the end of something, it’s literally the end of something,” Cardi said. “I don’t know what people wanted me to do.”
After years of on-again, off-again drama, she filed for divorce for the second time in July 2024. This time, it’s sticking. And Cardi is finally entering her healing era.
Finding Happiness Again
A day after going Instagram official with Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Cardi hopped online to thank her supporters and clapped back at haters who questioned her happiness. “I haven’t been this happy in a very, very long time,” she said, adding that she and Diggs built a solid friendship before turning romantic.
But not everyone’s thrilled for her. In fact, Cardi says she’s been bombarded with “disgusting hate from men” since debuting her new relationship. “I was married for seven years. I was faithful that whole time,” she clapped back. “I do not understand why I’m getting so much disgusting hate.”
The backlash isn’t slowing her down, though. Cardi says she’s focused on rebuilding and re-learning herself. “I feel like I’m crawling,” she said. “It’s like I’m learning how to do things again. Dating is new to me. It took a long time to open up to somebody.”
This version of Cardi B is softer but sharper. She’s done with drama, fed up with criticism, and fully embracing the healing that comes after hell. “I went through a lot of f—ing trauma,” she admitted. “I had to come at peace with myself. I had to shed a lot of f—ing tears so I could finally be like, ‘Yeah, I’m feeling good.’ And I’m sharing that.”
What’s Next for Cardi?
She’s no longer stuck in survival mode, and it shows. Whether she’s back in the booth, raising her kids, or kicking it with Stefon Diggs, Cardi is choosing herself these days.
“This is really my life that everybody’s having a f—ing opinion on,” she concluded. “So shut the f— up.”
Cardi’s comments came days after TMZ broke the news that Offset amended his divorce to request spousal support. In the same X Space, the rapper claimed she asked for “no child support” in a renewed filing because she just wants to be “done with this marriage.”
