Carlos Alcaraz gets a new tattoo every time he wins one of the major tennis tournaments. Over the weekend, he won the US Open, taking the championship from Jannik Sinner, last year’s winner. To commemorate the moment, Alcaraz is getting two new tattoos that are representative of New York.
In an interview hosted after his match, Alcaraz shared some of his plans. “I’m gonna do two things,” he told interviewers.
“I had a bet at the beginning of the tournament: the Brooklyn Bridge,” he said, prompting a surprised reaction from the interviewer.
“And obviously the Statue of Liberty. I’m gonna do both. And the date. Because this one is special. I have to get a tattoo twice.”
When it comes to the placement of the tattoos, Alcaraz revealed that he still didn’t know where he wanted them. He has the date of his last US Open win on his arm, but suggested that maybe the new tattoo would have a spot on his leg.

Last year, Alcaraz celebrated his French Open win with a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower. Some of his previous tattoos include his US Open win, which is simply the date of the match, “11.09.22”, and three C’s tattooed on his wrist. According to Alcaraz, the tattoo is a tribute to his grandfather, and stand for “cabeza,” “corazon” and “cojones,” roughly translating to head, heart, and bravery.
Following his Wimbledon win, Alcaraz got a tattoo of a strawberry, a fruit that’s closely linked to the tournament and which has become the event’s emblematic snack.

Alcaraz currently has six Grand Slam titles. He’s only 22 years old, making his record all the more impressive.
