Céline Dion is getting us ready for summer and looking back at some of her favorite memories. This week, the legendary singer shared a series of throwback photos from 2008, taken in Cape Town, South Africa, where she’s seen stretched out on a yacht in a bright blue one-piece swimsuit.
The V-neck suit featured delicate spaghetti straps and subtle waist cutouts, highlighting her athletic frame. Her hair was swept into a simple bun, oversized sunglasses shielding her eyes as she soaked in the sun. “Outfits I can’t wait to wear again… Who else is excited for summer?” the 47-year-old captioned the post.
On Friday, the singer shared another throwback, this time posting a photo of herself standing by a window overlooking the New York skyline.
Dressed in a structured cream turtleneck sweater with delicate embellishments and a dramatic pink floral skirt that cascaded around her, she looked poised and contemplative. “A quiet moment by the window, taking in the New York skyline and all its possibilities…” she wrote in the caption.
Celine’s health journey
The throwbacks come as Dion continues to focus on her health following her 2022 diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that affects the central nervous system and can cause severe muscle spasms, rigidity, and debilitating pain. In September of that year, she shared the news directly with fans.
“Recently, I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called Stiff Person Syndrome, which affects something like one in a million people,” she said at the time. “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know that this is what has been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.”
The condition forced her to cancel her 2023 and 2024 tour dates. In May 2023, she announced she was “unable to successfully prepare for and perform” the remainder of her scheduled shows. But even then, she made one thing clear: she wasn’t giving up.
“I miss you so much. I miss seeing all of you, being on the stage, performing for you,” she told fans. “I always give 100 percent when I do my shows, but my condition is not allowing me to give you that right now.”
She has remained positive, sharing wise words with her followers from time to time. In November, she told fans, “Dear friends,” for Thanksgiving. Today is a beautiful reminder to slow down, take a deep breath, and give thanks.”
“There’s something so powerful about gathering with the people you love, whether around the full table, over the phone, or even just in your heart,” she added.
