Chef Anne Burrell’s cause of death has been revealed. The Food Network star died this past June, and, according to newly surfaced reports, died by suicide.
The cause of death was confirmed by the City of New York Office of Chief Medical Examiner, which reported that Burrell died by “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”
Two of the medications found in Burrell’s system are antihistamines, used to block substances that cause allergic symptoms. They should not be consumed alongside alcohol, since they pose health risks.
Burrell was found dead in her apartment in New York after receiving a call about an unconscious woman. Upon their arrival on the scene, Burrell’s death was shortly confirmed, with medical professionals being unable to treat her.
She was 55 years old.
