Cher and her boyfriend, Alexander Edwards, sparked engagement rumors back in 2022, but this week, rumors started to swirl that a wedding was on the horizon. The singer is turning 80 on May 20, and the story was that she was planning to walk down the aisle for the special milestone.
A source close to Cher allegedly told The Mirror that she had her “heart set on walking down the aisle with him around the time of her landmark birthday.”
They added that she saw it as “the perfect time” for her and the 39-year-old to “seal the deal.” “Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their age difference, and they’re both ready to commit to each other,” they continued.
While the 79-year-old singer has made it very clear herself that she doesn’t care about their age gap, her spokesperson shut down the rumors, telling Gossip List there are “absolutely no plans for a wedding in her future.”
They instead pointed to Cher’s upcoming Christmas single and a Saturday Night Live performance on December 20.
Cher has been married twice, to Sonny Bono and Greg Allman.

He’s really talented – one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
The couple first met at Paris Fashion Week in 2022, and despite the online chatter about their relationship, Cher is staying quiet about the haters. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
