Chip and Joanna Gaines took a moment to tease each other as they joined in on a viral trend that saw the TV personalities roast their childhood photos.
The trend has been done by the likes of HGTV star Heather Rae El Moussa and involves the person sharing photos from their youth with captions detailing who they grew up to be.
Looking back
Chip and Joanna’s joint post began with a photo of the mother of five as a young girl, dressed in a red cardigan with the words, “This is who you’re asking to choose every paint color in your house” emblazoned across the snap.

The next photo saw Chip as a boy posing for his high school photos, with the caption: “This is who is telling you your project will be done on time and on budget.” The post cut to a picture of Joanna washing dishes as a child, above the words: “This is who you’re trusting to design your kitchen.”

Other captions included: “This is who you’re asking to stick to the budget”, “This is who says anything is possible in design (but it’ll cost you)”, “This is who’s taking a sledgehammer to your kitchen”, and “This is who you’re trusting to behave on national TV.”

“These kids had no idea what was coming…@chipgaines,” Joanna captioned the post, as fans took to the comment section to share the love. “Chip being Chip all his life!!” said one, while another wrote: “This is hilarious and absolutely ADORABLE!!”
A third fan chimed in: “That sweet little girl had no idea what a successful genius she would be!” while another declared: “These are fabulous! Who would have thought?!”

The talented duo first met at Joanna’s father’s auto shop, and the 47-year-old revealed that they didn’t fall for each other straight away.
“It wasn’t love at first sight for Chip and me,” Joanna wrote in The Magnolia Journal in 2020. “For one thing, I was typically attracted to guys who were more on the quiet side. In my mind, I somewhat instinctively checked his penchant for risk and chatty nature as two reasons we probably wouldn’t go on a second date.”

However, Chip’s plans for the future intrigued Joanna. “All the ideas and dreams he held for himself were anything but ordinary, and he talked about the world around him through the lens of untapped potential,” she shared.
“When Chip did eventually stop talking, if only to take a breath, I found myself wanting to fill the silence with plans and dreams of my own…Our lives have beat to this same rhythm ever since.”
