After almost 40 years on air, Jorge Ramos will anchor his final newscast on December 13. As tributes pour in from colleagues and fans, one dedication that has especially caught attention is that of his partner, Chiquinquirá Delgado.
Just hours before Jorge’s final Noticiero Univision broadcast, Chiqui took to Instagram to share her admiration for her partner’s remarkable career. Posting a beautiful portrait of Jorge, she wrote, “When you’ve done what you love all your life and worked tirelessly for your community, there are no goodbyes.” She added, “May all the wonderful things follow you and stay with you,” ending the post with a heart emoji and the hashtag “the best is yet to come.”
The post immediately drew attention, with fans and friends applauding Jorge’s incredible contributions to journalism. Many expressed how much they would miss him on their screens, while others eagerly speculated about his future projects.
Among the comments were one from Maria Elena Salinas, Jorge’s longtime friend and former co-anchor, and another from Chiqui’s eldest daughter, Marielena Dávila, who left a trail of heart emojis.
Jorge also shared his gratitude earlier this week, confirming that his last Al Punto episode will air on December 15. “This Friday is my last newscast on Univision after 38 years. And on Sunday, the last episode of Al Punto will be broadcast after almost 17 years. Pure gratitude,” he wrote.
Back in September, when news broke of Jorge’s decision to leave Univision, Chiqui shared another heartfelt message: “I don’t know anyone more dedicated, professional, and brave.”
The love and respect between Jorge and Chiqui
For more than 13 years, Jorge and Chiqui have kept their relationship mostly private, sharing only occasional glimpses into their life together. Despite not being legally married, they celebrated their commitment with a symbolic ceremony in India in 2014, following an engagement in Paris where Jorge presented Chiqui with a ring.
Chiqui has also spoken candidly about her views on relationships. In an interview on Desiguales, she shared her support for couples living together without marriage, saying, “Totally. (Marriage) is a decision of each person. Being married is more than a piece of paper.”
As Jorge closes this monumental chapter, Chiqui’s unwavering support reminds us of the love and partnership that have been the backbone of his extraordinary journey.
