Chris Hemsworth is back in Spain to present his new film, “Crime 101,” aka “Ruta de Escape.” The film is a fast-paced thriller in which he plays a slick, white-collar thief. Fresh off celebrating 15 years of marriage with Elsa Pataky, the Australian actor is back in his second home: Madrid. Whenever work brings him to the city where Pataky was born, Hemsworth makes a point of soaking it in, even on whirlwind trips like this one.

Pataky accompanied Hemsworth but let him take center stage. On Tuesday morning, he good-naturedly braved the rain on the rooftop of the iconic Edificio Metrópolis, now a private members’ club with restaurants, a gym, a wine cellar, and a boutique hotel, answering questions alongside the film’s director, Bart Layton.

After a full round of interviews that wrapped in the afternoon, Hemsworth headed off in a hurry, eager for lunch and to prepare for his appearance on “El Hormiguero,” one of the most popular Spanish programs, where Pataky has been a frequent guest.

One thing the couple never skips, no matter where they are, is their workout routine. When in Madrid, they’re often spotted at the Metropolitan gym near Pataky’s home in Chamberí, and this visit was no exception, according to reports from OkDiario.

Hemsworth delighted his fans on social media, sharing a video in Spanish with his nearly 59 million Instagram followers. “Viva España, viva Madrid, preciosa Madrid,” he said, adding, “I love this city, and the people are incredible.” He then invited viewers to check out his new film.

In another clip, he and Pataky showed off sweeping views from the Metropolitan club at the junction of Gran Vía and Calle de Alcalá.

The couple has lived in Australia for more than a decade, but they return to Spain every summer or so, ensuring that their three kids can stay connected to their mother’s culture and their heritage.

In a recent interview with La Vanguardia, Hemsworth described their daily routine at home in Byron Bay. His days are made up of early mornings surfing before the kids wake up, family breakfasts, outdoor activities like beach walks, surfing, or horseback riding, and quiet evenings watching movies together on the couch. “I don’t need much more than that,” he said.

In recent months, Hemsworth has also spoken candidly about family challenges. After learning he has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s, he revealed that his father is living with the disease. He has often cited his father as his greatest influence, praising his dedication as a child-protection social worker and the example he set.

During a previous visit to Spain in early December, Hemsworth acknowledged how difficult this period has been, noting the unwavering support he receives from Pataky.

“Crime 101” hits theaters on February 13. Stepping away from superhero roles, Hemsworth stars as Davis, a high-stakes thief caught in a cat-and-mouse game set in Los Angeles.

The cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, and Nick Nolte. As Hemsworth puts it, “The people with the badge aren’t necessarily the good guys, and the thief isn’t necessarily the bad one either.”
