Chris Pratt brought Seahawks fandom to Mexico City, convincing a restaurant to drag out a TV so he and his team could catch Seattle’s 41–6 thrashing of the 49ers. The sports fan could not attend the Seattle game at his beloved Lumen Field because he was in Mexico City to promote his new film, Mercy. The final score of the game, the Seahawks beat the San Francisco side 41–6.

Chris took to Instagram to shared a photo of him pointing at the game on the TV in front of his Mercy team, including actress Rebecca Ferguson, 42, who was sitting at a long dining table. In the post, he showed his love for his team and for Mexico for allowing him not to miss this historic win.

“In Mexico City, promoting Mercy and this restaurant has dragged out a TV so we could watch the Seahawks put a whooping on them Niners! I LOVE Mexico City and the Seahawks!”

The Guardians of the Galaxy star’s Mexican fans thanked Chris for his kind words about their country in the upload’s comments section, with many of them welcoming him, praising him and hailing him as an honorary “countryman.”

In a separate Instagram post, Chris reflected on the Mexican leg of the promotional tour for Mercy, which shows viewers a future where AI is in charge. He captioned a media carousel featuring highlights of the event in pictures and video with, “Mexico City you guys showed UP. I’m truly blown away by your love and support for this film. Couldn’t have asked for a better welcome. Thank you all!!!,” and the movie’s account on the social media platform added, “Mexico City loves Mercy” in the post’s comments section.

At the New York premiere of Mercy, Chris insisted that artificial intelligence will not end his acting career. The star, who blasted AI “actress” Tilly Norwood, told Variety, “I don’t feel like someone’s going to replace me, that’s AI. This Tilly Norwood thing, I think it’s all bulls***. I’ve never seen her in a movie, I don’t know who this b**** is. It’s all fake, until it’s something.”

Last year, Tilly’s creator, Eline van der Velden, said the character had not been made to replace humans. She said, “To those who have expressed anger over the creation of my AI character, Tilly Norwood: she is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work, a piece of art,” adding that, “Like many forms of art before her, she sparks conversation, and that in itself shows the power of creativity.”

Van der Velden continued, “I see AI not as a replacement for people, but as a new tool, a new paintbrush,” and compared it to other filmmaking tools by saying, “Just as animation, puppetry, or CGI opened fresh possibilities without taking away from live acting, AI offers another way to imagine and build stories.” She also noted, “I’m an actor myself, and nothing, certainly not an AI character, can take away the craft or joy of human performance.”

She went on, “Creating Tilly has been, for me, an act of imagination and craftsmanship, not unlike drawing a character, writing a role, or shaping a performance,” before adding, “It takes time, skill, and iteration to bring such a character to life. She represents experimentation, not substitution.” Van der Velden concluded, “Much of my work has always been about holding up a mirror to society through satire, and this is no different.”
