Cody Simpson is opening up about his dating history. The musician became famous at an early age and has dated some of the most famous women of his generation, among them Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Miley Cyrus.
In an appearance on the podcast “We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunson,” Simpson shared a breakdown of some of his key early relationships, discussing his first girlfriend, his first love, and his much-explored romance with Cyrus, which lasted throughout the pandemic.
Simpson revealed that Jenner was his first girlfriend, with the two meeting at the premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” and exchanging numbers on the red carpet.
“It was young. I took her to the movies or something and we dated for about a year and I think we just bonded through being in these unique situations,” he said. “So it was nice. I think it’s just nice to relate to somebody at that age in that world.”
Simpson then revealed he dated Hadid, calling her his “first love.” He said that he’d seen one of her ads and made up a story about a music video, asking her to star in it. “There was no music video. No plans for a video, the videos have all been shot and this was like right around, I was doing my second album,” he said.
Simpson explained that the moment allowed them to start texting each other. “It was kind of like she was my first love, man. Absolutely,” he said. “We were together for, on and off, about two years, but we started hanging out and a couple weeks later, she came on tour with me, and we again, it was a similar thing in that we bonded through her family, she came from a very, very interesting family.”
His relationship with Cyrus
Despite his famous roster of ex-girlfriends, Miley Cyrus is the name most people associate with Simpson, with the two dating for almost a year during the pandemic. Through their time together, the pair shared videos and photos, marking her fisrt serious relationship since her Liam Hemsworth split.
Simpson revealed that he and Cyrus were friends long before they dated, and simply met at the right point in their lives. “She obviously rebelled very publicly from that over the years and went through certain things,” he said, referring Cyrus step away from her teen idol years. “And I think when I started to go through that, she came into my life, and helped me navigate it in some ways.”
