Kristin Cabot, one of the subjects of the viral kiss cam Coldplay concert clip, has broken her silence months after the scandal.
Cabot was a guest on “The Oprah Podcast” in what she says will be her only on-camera interview about the scandal that derailed her life. Cabot made it clear that she wanted to turn the page on this particular chapter, sharing new and surprising details about the night at the concert.
In her interview, Cabot accused tech companies of “profiting from the pain” of people whose private moments become online fodder. She revealed that she was already separated from her husband on the night of the concert, and that the fallout from the scandal led to the loss of her job as the head of human resources at the tech startup Astronomer.
After the video of her and Astronomer’s CEO Andy Byron spread on TikTok, it went viral, building over 300 billion views across platforms. By the end of 2025, the clip had become one of the most viral moments of the year.
A surprising twist about that night
During the conversation with Winfrey, Cabot clarified that she was already separated from her husband when the video was recorded and made public. But the most unexpected revelation was that her ex was also in attendance at the concert that night.
“And in my mind, I thought, ‘Well, is this going to be weird if he sees me with Andy?’” she said. “But then I was like, I’m in Gillette Stadium. There’s 55,000 people here. I’m probably not going to run into him.”
She also made it clear that her ex wouldn’t have been surprised to have seen her with Byron. “He knows how closely Andy and I worked together. He knew we socialized — we’d go to lunch or grab drinks. There was no issue,” she said.
Looking back, Cabot says she would have preferred running into Andrew that night rather over appearing on the stadium’s giant screen and becoming a global meme.
The kiss cam that went viral
On the night of the concert, Cabot and Byron unexpectedly appeared on the stadium’s big screen, hugging like a couple. When they realized they had been highlighted on the kiss cam, the two quickly tried to hide, with Byron ducking out of the frame and Cabot covering her face and turning her back to the camera.
“Wow, look at these two!” said Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin from the stage. “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”
Cabot said that her first feeling after being featured on the camera was one of “total horror.” “My immediate thought was, ‘Oh, my God, my husband’s in the building.’ He was there with someone else and I knew that and that was great and fine. But he and I were in the midst of our separation, incredibly amicable. To this day, he’s been one of the biggest supporters of me through all of this. He’s an incredible man,” she said. “And the last thing I wanted to do was embarrass him.”
In the days after the clip was shared, social media examined the footage over and over, going after every detail. Viewers doxxed Cabot and Byron, with many calling Cabot a homewrecker.
Cabot reveals that the cost of becoming a viral phenomenon was steep. She shared that she faced an avalanche of criticism and even death threats after the incident, affecting her mental health and her family life. Shortly after the scandal, Cabot filed for divorce and stepped away from the public spotlight.
In a previous interview with The New York Times, Cabot shared that her relationship with Byron never went further than what was captured on camera. “I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she said. “And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”
