Maybe the politicians should leave the influencing to the influencers?

In a since deleted Instagram post addressed to his “haters,” former Gov. Andrew Cuomo seemingly wanted to appear like just one of the guys, sporting a T-shirt as he seemingly worked on his muscle car in his latest push to relate to New York voters.

“You know, I’m in politics, and people say a lot of things online,” he said while also acknowledging, “a lot of things, they say are nasty.”

It turns out the really nasty stuff, however, is when people say, “I don’t know cars,” he said. “Now, that is just wrong, and that is really hurtful. If there’s one thing I know, it’s cars!”

The mayoral candidate filmed the video under the hood of his 1968 Pontiac GTO 400. “I built this car, basically from the ground up, probably three or four times now,” he said proudly.

He then described his mechanical skills as “sort of like the city.”

“The city has to work together…. It all has to work together. So, say what you want about me… but, don’t say I don’t know how to fix cars,” he said.

Cuomo ended the video speeding off in his hot wheels, but not before telling New Yorkers, “We can make New York City run as well as this 1968 Pontiac GTO!”

In July, the Post reported that Cuomo was ripped online for a “cringe” campaign video where he purported to help a man jump-start a car in an unstaged New York City moment.

Either way, classic Pontiacs seem to be popular with the Cuomo family.

In 2016, Page Six exclusively reported that Cuomo’s news anchor bro, Chris Cuomo, crashed his 1969 Pontiac Firebird in an alleged “full-blown drag race” in Southampton. (He embarrassingly crashed into his friend’s parked Mercedes).

Meanwhile, Andrew must’ve had a flashback to his brother’s fender bender, or though twice about his attempt at appearing relatable? He removed the video as soon as he posted it.

City and State New York journo Sophie Krichevsky, however, managed to record it in all its glory before it was taken down.

A rep for Cuomo — who is running for mayor against incumbent Eric Adams and socialist Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani — did not comment.

Cuomo has been involved in a number of auto-related Page Six items in the past, like when he was seen helping a motorist in a stalled 1969 yellow Corvette in the Hamptons.
