David Beckham is sharing how his family reacted to his recent knighthood, and it sounds like his kids had one big question on their minds.
During a chat with Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on talkSPORT on Friday, March 27, the 50-year-old former soccer star opened up about what’s actually changed since being knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle on Nov. 4, 2025.
According to David, not much is different day to day. The only real change, he joked, is the “notepaper” he now uses when sending thank-you notes. But his kids were definitely hoping for a little more.
“My kids turned around to me and said, ‘Dad, do we get any privileges, like, anything?’” he shared. “I was like, ‘Well, apart from the ones that you already got, absolutely not.’ ”
David and Victoria Beckham have four kids together: Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14. Looking back on the big moment, David said the experience meant everything to him.
“It was unbelievable,” he said. “It was probably the best day of my life other than, obviously, when my kids were born and when I got married. It was special.”
The former Manchester United star received the honor from the King in recognition of his “services to sports and charity” during a formal investiture ceremony, which celebrates people who’ve made major contributions to their communities.
It was a full family moment, too. Alongside Victoria, 51, David’s parents, Ted Beckham and Sandra West, were there to support him. The recognition came more than a decade after he was first nominated back in 2011.
Speaking to People a few weeks after the ceremony, David admitted the whole experience hit him emotionally.
“It’s been a very emotional week,” he said. “I wasn’t nervous, just emotional, as it means so much to me and my family.”
“It’s such a huge honor to receive, and all around, it was a very special day for us,” he added. “It’s a memory I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.”
