Demi Lovato is embracing a new era of music. The beloved singer has shared the first song and music video of her new album. Titled “Fast,” the song and the video represent a new approach to music and her life.
Set in an apocalyptic environment, the clip shows Lovato walking through all sorts of situations while remaining unbothered. At one point, she walks through a street packed with screens, showing some of the most memorable memes that she’s inspired.
While the hint is subtle, eagle-eyed fans will be able to pinpoint the memes, including Poot, the character fans created based on a photo of photoshopped photo of Lovato, a video of her singing her song “Skyscraper” to a ghost in the MTV series “Unidentified,” and more.
Lovato shared some photos on her Instagram, showing some behind-the-scenes moments of the recording of the music video, the cast and crew that were involved in its making, and more.
“Fast is out now and I am so excited to share this song and video with you!!!! We shot this straight through the night last month and i could not be happier with how it turned out. For me, it represents how i move through life now – unbothered by the noise and chaos around me, and in control of where I’m headed,” she wrote in the post’s caption.
She thanked some of her creative partners and her fans, the Lovatics. “Thank you for always being there. i’m so ready to get this new era started. lets have some fun.”
Lovato has long embraced her weird memes
Earlier this year, Lovato shared a TikTok referencing her strange and hilarious Poot Lovato meme. In a clip where she’s lip synching to a prerecorded audio, Lovato smiles at the camera.
“When someone asks me to let Poot out of the basement…” reads the text over the video. She then says, “Wow, what an offer.”
“And I’m never letting her out,” she wrote in the TikTok’s caption.
