Taylor Swift usually stays out of drama, especially with matters of the court, but the singer has been dragged into the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively lawsuit, and there are no signs of it slowing down. His lawyer just made some serious allegations about Lively’s treatment of the singer.
The Hollywood dispute has turned into best friend breakup territory, and there’s been speculation for months about the status of Lively and Swift’s friendship. Travis Kelce has even unfollowed Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds.
In a legal letter obtained by E!, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, alleged that Lively’s team tried to pressure Swift into sharing a statement of support. Freedman used the information to explain why Swift should be subpoenaed. Freedman told the judge there was a credible ‘source’ that alleged, “private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively’s possession would be released” if Swift didn’t.
© MEGAHe also claimed that the Another Simple Favor star allegedly requested the “Love Story” singer delete their text messages.
Furthermore, he alleges Swift’s reps addressed the “inappropriate and apparently extortionate threats” with Lively’s attorney. Now, he’s subpoenaing those communications to show what he calls an attempt to “intimidate and coerce” a witness – aka Swift.
Balke Lively responds
In response to the news, Lively’s lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, shut it down. “This is categorically false. We unequivocally deny all of these so-called allegations, which are cowardly sourced to supposed anonymous sources, and completely untethered from reality,” he told TMZ.
“This is what we have come to expect from the Wayfarer parties’ lawyers, who appear to love nothing more than shooting first, without any evidence, and with no care for the people they are harming in the process. We will imminently file motions with the court to hold these attorneys accountable for their misconduct here,” he continued.
The attorney kept his promise and filed a motion to strike the letter from the court docket as “baseless, unnecessary, improper, and abusive,” per TMZ.
Swift Responds
© GettyAfter news broke that Swift was subpoenaed, Swift’s team said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions. She didn’t score the film. She didn’t even see it until weeks after it premiered.”
