President Donald Trump was one of the guests at Pope Francis‘ funeral. The ceremony was hosted this past Saturday and welcomed all manner of notorious guests, world leaders, and Catholic followers from all corners of the world.
As the days pass, one of the topics of conversation that remain is Donald Trump’s attire, which has sparked some conversation from online viewers and fashion experts.
What Donald Trump wore
President Trump wore a blue suit with a matching tie and a white button-up. He also wore an American flag pin attached to his breast.
Images of the event show him flanked by Melania Trump and other heads of state, demonstrating some contrast within his fashion choices.
Melania wore a black outfit from the Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, a reference to the location and its history. Other heads of state present in the image include King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, and more. They were all wearing black.
Did the Vatican issue a dress code?

“For men, it dictated dark suits with white shirts and long black ties,” reads the publication. “Shoes, long socks, coats, and umbrellas were also specified to be black to mark the occasion.”
In the case of women, they were advised to wear “long black dresses, black closed-toe shoes, gloves, and a veil.” Melania and Jill Biden adhered strictly to these rules.

While the online conversation is centered on Trump, other male guests also wore blue, including Prince William, who rounded out his outfit with a black tie, King Abdullah, and President Joe Biden.
Their outfits were darker than Trump’s but still within the navy blue range.
