President Donald Trump has shared his thoughts on one of the world’s biggest pop culture news stories. Following Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, Trump shared his thoughts on the couple.
Trump discussed the couple’s engagement in a livestreamed Cabinet meeting, where he was asked about his opinion by one of the reporters. “Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” said Trump. “I think he’s a great player and a great guy, and I think she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.”
The answer was surprising, especially when it comes to Swift, with whom Trump shares a complicated history. Over the past, the President has been critical of Swift and her politics, beginning a one-sided feud that started after Swift shared her public endorsement of Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential elections.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” he wrote at the time on a Truth Social post. He doubled down on his statements months later, writing, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'”
© Getty Images for The Recording AEarlier this month, after discussing some viral news, including Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle partnership, Trump targeted Swift once more. “Just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift,” he wrote. “Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”
“The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he concluded.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” she captioned the post, which showed various photos of the proposal, showing Kelce and Swift holding each other close as the two were flanked by some flowers.
The announcement follows the couple’s joint appearance on Kelce’s podcast “New Heights,” where they discussed the start of their relationship, which kicked off when Kelce shared he tried to meet Swift at one of the Eras concerts and couldn’t because she was resting her voice.
“I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, which is a big if, but if he’s not crazy, then this is basically every song I’ve ever written since I was a teenager come to life,” said Swift.
