Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s soccer team Wrexham FC have been knocked out of the FA Cup, leaving the pair heartbroken. Blake Lively, Ryan’s wife, was at the stadium on March 6, 2026 to support her husband, with pictures showing the actress giving her husband a tight hug as the final seconds of the match counted down.
The Welsh Championship team, which is owned by Deadpool star Ryan and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Rob, was beaten 4-2 by Premier League side Chelsea after extra time.
The trio was seen cheering their team’s goals, with 49-year-old Ryan kissing his wife as she was joined by one of their children, who was wearing a Wrexham shirt.
Wrexham took the lead early on in the game with a goal from striker Sam Smith and later a goal by defender Callum Doyle put their team 2-1 up close to the game’s conclusion, but a late equalizer came from Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong which took the game to extra time.
Wrexham’s George Dobson then received a red card, before goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Joao Pedro eventually knocked the Welsh team out of the cup. “Proud of the team, today and every day,” Rob later posted on Instagram.
Ryan and Rob have become a staple at the Wrexham games, and Blake has often been in attendance, as well as their four children: daughters James, 10, Inez, eight, and Betty, five, and two-year-old son Olin.
Ryan gave Blake a sweet kiss as the final whistle rang out.
Blake and Ryan have been navigating a high-profile legal battle against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni since December 2024 when, Blake filed a complaint against Justin alleging sexual harassment and retaliation on the set of It Ends With Us.
The director denies those allegations, thus launching a years-long legal battle dragging in stars like Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds, although Justin’s $400 million countersuit has since been dismissed. Blake has alleged she lost $161 million in profits as a result of what she describes as a retaliatory smear campaign.
The actors appeared in the courthouse for the first time in February, as their teams attempted to resolve their legal issues ahead of a May trial.
Ryan and Rob – who changed his last name to Mac in 2025 – bought Wrexham for £2 million in February 2021 and have led the Welsh club out of the National League, the fifth division of English football, and into the second-tier Championship.
The team is currently in play-offs of the Championship League, which gives them the chance to compete for promotion to the Premier League.
The pair’s time with the club has been documented in the FX series, Welcome To Wrexham, which has earned 10 Emmys.
