The trailer for Fountain of Youth is here, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release on May 23. Starring John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, and Domhnall Gleeson, the Guy Ritchie-directed film looks epic and like a classic treasure-hunting journey as two estranged siblings (Krasinski and Portman) come together to try and find the legendary Fountain of Youth.
The trailer is trending at #24 on YouTube at the time of this publication, and it’s clear from the comments that it’s one of this year’s most anticipated films, with some even asking Apple TV to take it to theaters.
“We soooo needed treasure-hunting movies back, man, thank god,” “This feels more like an Uncharted movie than the Uncharted movie,” and “Finally. I have missed movies like this, where you actually go on an adventure. The last one I really enjoyed was The Mummy Returns back in the early 2000s. Hopefully, this is fun,” were among some of the comments.
A dream come true for Eiza
González has had an incredible journey, and it seems like she’s had one movie after the other in the last few years. Fresh off the heels of Ash starring Aaron Paul, this film was a pinch-me moment for her as she got to work with her “role model,” Portman.
In her March Flaunt cover story, González said she cried when she saw their names together. “When I saw the poster and my name next to hers, I had a real moment—I kind of cried,” González told the outlet.
If it weren’t for Portman, González might not even be an actress. “I wanted to be an actress all thanks to Natalie Portman,” she explained. “She was it—she was the role model. It makes me emotional talking about it even now.” Despite already having so many successes in her career, she said, “It’s all so surreal, still.”
The respect is mutual, and Portman has even endorsed her to play Evelyn Hugo in the Netflix movie adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” which tells the story of a fictional Old Hollywood star who gives a final interview to an unknown journalist.
The Ambulance star told E! News she would love to play her, and it would be an honor, explaining, “Once I was on set and Natalie Portman was like, ‘You know, I just can’t think of anyone else to do Evelyn Hugo.’” It marked another surreal moment for the 35-year-old. “I was like, ‘Natalie Portman is saying that to me! That’s really fire.’”
She made sure to note that nothing is set in stone or even being discussed at the moment. “I don’t know if I’ll ever get it. I don’t even know what’s happening with that project,” she explained.
Fountain of Youth premieres on May 23 on Apple TV.
