Elizabeth Hurley’s friends—like Elton John—are baffled by her and Billy Ray Cyrus

Elizabeth Hurley is in her cowboy era, and many are confused. The actress and model, 59, went public with her new romance on Easter Sunday—and the man in question? None other than Billy Ray Cyrus, 63.

The news has shocked many in her circle, including the one and only Elton John. A source told Page Six that John “may not understand this relationship, and is a bit bemused by it.”

But who hasn’t watched a friend make a questionable decision and just let it happen? The insider told the outlet the 78-year-old is staying “loyal.” “For all [Billy Ray’s] faults, Elton is really loyal to Liz,” they explained.

And here’s where it gets even messier: John is also close with Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray’s daughter, who has reportedly been estranged from her dad for the last couple of years.

While Billy Ray was out here playing Easter Bunny with Liz, Miley was keeping it chill in NYC with her boyfriend Maxx Morando. The couple was spotted picking up Italian takeout, looking cute and content in their own little world.

John isn’t the only one confused. According to the source, Liz’s “friends think it must be a joke or madness, but they aren’t saying it to her.”

But not everyone’s raising eyebrows. In Liz’s Easter post, Heidi Klum dropped five red heart emojis in the comments. Her son Damian, whom she shared with the late Steve Bing, also showed up in the comments with a celebration emoji and a red heart. So, looks like the “Achy Breaky” singer has the support of one of the most important people in her life.

Considering Damian’s dad passed away five years ago, Billy Ray could end up playing a meaningful role in the 23-year-old’s life—if things get serious.

Maybe it’s the perfect match?

Despite the trepidation, this might be exactly what she’s been looking for. The insider said, “She’s been waiting a long time for romance,” adding, “I think she likes the whole cowboy thing.”

Billy Ray, for his part, filed for divorce from Firerose in May 2024, just under a year ago. That relationship came with a 27-year age gap and a lot of side-eye.

With Liz, it’s a more even match—she’s just four years younger and no stranger to public love stories (remember Arun Nayar?).
