Lucas Bravo has never been afraid to speak his mind, most famously in 2024 when he admitted his disappointment with the direction of his character Gabriel’s arc on the hit Netflix show Emily In Paris. “As they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character… being slowly turned into guacamole,” he said.
Gabriel took a backseat in season five, but as the show prepares to go into production for season six, fans are hoping to see more of the chef, after Emily received a postcard from her former lover, asking her to visit him in Greece, where he was working as a private chef on a yacht.
Netflix has now confirmed that the show will be shooting in Greece as well as Monaco, and Lucas told HELLO! that he “guarantees” a “fun Gabriel” in season six.
“We’re going there, guaranteed,” said Lucas. “That’s why he took a step back, to clear his mind and come back in a fun way.”
Emily in Paris was Lucas’ breakout role, and he said that playing Gabriel has taught him how to “love” himself, as well as find “compassion” for his past mistakes.
“Being in a show for so long really, really teaches you a lot because you come back to the same setup but you’re a different person,” he said, while speaking at PaleyFest LA in Hollywood on April 10, 2026.
“I think I’ve learned to love myself, which is a big one and is a life’s work. I’ve learned to have compassion for my mistakes. I’ve learned to forgive people for their mistakes and to not take things personally, and to have boundaries as well, not being a people pleaser.”
Over the past six years, Lucas and his co-stars including Lily Collins and Ashley Park have become, he says, “a family”.
“[Fame] hit us in season one. Nobody knew us really, apart from Lily, so we had to discover what it means to be in the public eye, how to manage what we say, what we look like and and how some choices affect our career or the people that follow us,” he admitted.
“Life goes up and it goes down, and we all reflect each other’s choices, so we became a pretty tight family. And that’s rare, you hear there is always a lot of drama, but we’re all pretty tight, so it’s amazing.”
Emily in Paris has seen the show visit stunning locations across Europe, including Paris, Provence, and Rome, Italy. Season six will visit Greece and Monaco – so where would Lucas like to see the show go next? Turns out he has very specific plans for what Gabriel and Emily could enjoy….
“Australia would be nice. Picking up cow manure mushrooms after the rain…” he laughed.
