Eric Dane passed away at the age of 53 on February 19 due to his struggles with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS.
The Grey’s Anatomy actor sadly left behind his wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two children, Billie Beatrice Dane, 15, and Georgia Geraldine Dane, 13.
His family will inherit his net worth of seven million, per Celebrity Net Worth.
In 2018 Rebecca filed for divorce, however she ended up ultimately dismissing the request in 2025 and the couple remained married.
Rebecca revealed what made their relationship work to E! News and said: “We are best of friends. We are really close. We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.”
She added: “I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids, so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”
Prior to his firstborn entering the world, he knew that he wanted to name his future child Billie, regardless of being a boy or girl.
The name holds special significance for the actor being that it’s his late father’s name. Her middle name is actually the name of Rebecca’s grandmother. The couple would often playfully call their daughter Billie The Kid.
Both Billie and her sister are following in her parents’ artistic footsteps, being that they are very interested in modeling and acting. Rebecca revealed to E! News that “they’re too young yet.”
Billie is also a ballet dancer and takes it seriously. She expressed to The Patch: “I am at my happiest when I am dancing. Studying ballet has taught me so much about discipline, commitment and how to make the perfect bun!” Billie sys that dancing is like her personal “oxygen.”
The mom gushed about Billie online as she started high school in 2024. She wrote online: “It doesn’t seem possible yet [but] I know you are more than ready for this next chapter. I have watched you juggle school, ballet and life with tenacity, grace and humor. You’re as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside.”
Their younger daughter Georgia loves volleyball and performing in her school plays.
She has a wise-beyond-her-years stance on life already. During the tough lockdown during the pandemic, Rebecca wrote online: “I’m sharing a few pics of Georgia today because she is the only one in the family who is thriving and not just surviving. She loves being home and finds the joy in most everything she does. I’m so thankful for this kid.”
