Eva Longoria is celebrating National Latina Day with a message that gets straight to the heart of her identity. The actress, director, producer, and longtime advocate for Latino representation marked the August 20 celebration on social media, sharing a simple but meaningful declaration of pride: “There’s nothing I’m prouder of than being Latina.” She followed it by wishing a happy National Latina Day to fellow Latinas.
It is a fitting message from Longoria, whose career has increasingly become as much about creating opportunities for Latino talent and telling Latino stories as it is about her own work in front of the camera.
And on National Latina Day 2026, that message carries extra significance.

National Latina Day is observed on August 20 and was created as a celebration of Latina identity, achievement, and influence. The celebration dates back to 2015 and began as a social media-driven effort in Texas to recognize and empower Latinas.
This year, Longoria joined the celebration with a social media post centered on pride in being Latina.
Longoria has spoken about her Mexican-American heritage throughout her career. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in a Mexican-American family in South Texas, she has built a public identity that remains closely connected to her roots.

In 2026, organizations are continuing to use the occasion to highlight Latina leadership. The South Texas Business Partnership, for example, is holding its fourth annual National Latina Day event on August 20 with a focus on women making an impact through leadership, entrepreneurship, advocacy, business and the arts.
Eva Longoria’s Latina Pride Goes Beyond Social Media
For Longoria, celebrating Latina identity is hardly limited to one day of the year.
The former “Desperate Housewives” star has spent years working to increase Latino representation both in Hollywood and beyond it. She founded the Eva Longoria Foundation in 2012 with a mission focused on helping Latinas build opportunities through education and entrepreneurship. Her work behind the camera has become another major part of that effort.
