Longoria has shared her first statement regarding the ongoing protests in different parts of the US

The clip shows Longoria wearing her workout clothes and no makeup, addressing the camera directly. “Every time I try to record a message, I just start crying. And I don’t want it to be about me and my emotions about it, but it’s just so… inhumane. Hard to watch. It’s hard to witness from afar,” she said in the clip, likely recording the message from her home in Marbella.

“The comments and people’s reactions to it have really been so surprising to me. Because it really is un-American. We all can agree. Nobody wants criminals in our country. Nobody wants bad actors. That’s not what’s happening,” she continued.

Longoria shared different stories, empathizing with the Latino community and those afflicted. “These roundups are happening at birthday parties. At graduations. At Home Depot. Those are not criminals.”

“I just hope that everybody has more compassion for this issue. And realize that we have industries dependent on immigrant labor. These are people who feed us and take care of us, and take care of our families and our children and our communities. We can’t deny them as humans.”

Longoria concluded her clip by providing various resources to her followers, where people can share donations and provide help to the people that need it most. She also thanked the people and the communities that have stood by Latinos through this challenging time.

“Thank you for seeing us. Thank you for speaking out for us and with us.”

Longoria joins multiple artists and celebrities who’ve shared their thoughts on the Los Angeles protests and the ICE raids, decrying them and demanding other alternatives from the government.
