Eva Mendes is happy with her family. The retired actress, who starred in her last film in 2014, has been busy raising her daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, writing a kids’ book, and launching her brand of cleaning products. In a new interview, she opened up about her decision to quit acting and revealed what it would take for her to return to Hollywood.
In an interview with Elle Spain published in Spanish, Mendes discussed her very successful acting career and why she decided to stop acting. Her last performance was in the film “Lost River,” directed by her partner Ryan Gosling.
“I’d never seen anything like it,” she said of Gosling’s work. “His way of working, his commitment to it, his will to give the best of himself. All of that allowed for his collaborators to shine too. Disgracefully, or luckily, there’s only one Ryan, so I practically stopped acting after that project.”
After she was asked what it would take for her to return to acting, she didn’t seem all that convinced, clearly enjoying her life at the moment and the way things are.
“My youngest daughter is 9 years old, and I feel like I have to stay as long as I can with my girls. My most important role is to be a mom now. If I were to return to acting, it would have to be a very special project.”
Mendes and Gosling are careful when raising their daughters, preserving their privacy and avoiding exposing them on social media.
Mendes’ love for her partner and her family
In the interview, Mendes also revealed how much she loved and respected Gosling, and how important a role he has in her life as a mother. “If I threw myself into, this adventure, it was thanks to him,” she said.
“I fell in love with this man. It couldn’t have happened with someone else.”
