Family Ties star, Tina Yothers, 52, looks completely unrecognisable now

Tina Yothers was once one of the most recognizable faces on television. As Jennifer Keaton on the beloved 1980s sitcom Family Ties, she grew up in front of millions of viewers, starring alongside Michael J. Fox, Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross. 

Cast at just nine years old, Tina quickly became a tween icon, playing the sharp-witted younger sister in the Reagan-era family comedy that ran from 1982 to 1989.

Now 52, the former child star has largely stepped away from the spotlight – and recent photos shared by Daily Mail show her embracing a very different pace of life. In the images, Tina is seen doing yard work outside her home, dressed casually and focused on the task at hand – a far cry from Hollywood red carpets and studio sets.

In addition to her acting role, Tina also enjoyed a brief singing moment on the hit show and capitalised on her popularity with the 1987 book Being Your Best: Tina Yothers’ Guide for Girls, aimed at empowering young women. While many child stars struggle with the transition into adulthood, Tina chose a quieter route.

In the early 2000s, she stepped away from mainstream Hollywood and prioritised family life. She married contractor Robert Kaiser in 2002, and the couple share two children. Over the years, Tina has occasionally resurfaced in nostalgic TV projects and reality appearances, but she has largely kept her personal life private.

That doesn’t mean she’s completely disconnected from her roots. In 2023, she delighted fans when she reunited with her on-screen brother Michael J. Fox at his A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s gala.

The rare appearance sparked waves of nostalgia among longtime viewers of the sitcom, who were thrilled to see the Keaton siblings together again decades later.

While many former child actors chase reinvention in Hollywood, Tina’s story feels different. There’s no dramatic comeback campaign or headline-grabbing pivot – just a life lived largely outside the glare of fame.
