A new update in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy Guthrie has proved chilling for many netizens.
On February 10, the FBI released new images in connection with the case, allegedly taken by surveillance cameras outside the home. The black and white images show a masked figure outside the home, with some of them seeming to suggest tampering with the cameras.
The newly released pictures from a Nest camera connect to the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff Department’s previous assertion that the surveillance footage outside the home was lost in the wee hours of the morning after the cameras were damaged.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared in a statement: “New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie,” sharing further details about the ongoing search for Nancy, 84.
“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices.”
He also makes note of a video, recovered from “residual data located in backend systems.”

Social media users on X reacted with comments like: “This is genuinely terrifying. I’m so heartbroken for her and her family,” and: “Creepy!” plus: “Utterly frightening. Praying y’all solve this horrific crime,” as well as: “That poor woman must have been terrified seeing that masked man.”
© FBINancy was last seen near her home in Tucson, Arizona after spending the evening with her family on January 31. She was reported missing on February 1 after failing to show up in church as she had every Sunday morning.
Since then, Savannah has taken a step back from hosting TODAY, spending time in Arizona with her siblings Annie and Camron. The three have also released group and solo videos pleading with the alleged kidnappers for the safe return of their mom.
© FBISeveral ransom notes were also allegedly sent to a variety of media networks, with some claiming ransom demands for up to a multi-million sum in Bitcoin. Savannah has also said they are willing to “pay” for the return of their mom, who is also believed to be without life-saving medication in the 10 days she has been missing.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department believe that Nancy was taken “against her will” from her home, with signs of blood being detected in her home as well (they were later proven to be Nancy’s), plus DNA.
© FBIAuthorities also discovered signs of forced entry at her residence, which is now being treated as a crime scene, and the FBI and Border Patrol subsequently joined the search, deploying technology teams for cellular analysis and tracking dogs to locate her.
