First Lady Melania Trump hopped into the spotlight on Monday to host the 147th White House Easter Egg Roll with President Donald Trump. The mom of one looked characteristically stylish for her appearance on the South Lawn, wearing, HOLA! USA has confirmed, a belted trench coat from Mackage—a brand that Meghan Markle has stepped out in on more than one occasion.
For her and Prince Harry‘s first official royal engagement as a couple in Nottingham back in 2017, the Duchess of Sussex wore a double-breasted navy Mackage coat. Just earlier this year, the Duchess kept warm in a long white puffer coat from Mackage, while in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games.
First Lady Melania opted for the brand’s “GAEL-V Maxi Leather Trench Coat” on Monday, April 21, which she teamed with a pair of heels. The 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll featured a variety of activities, including a Be Best military card writing station, Be Best hopscotch, a space exploration experience, egg coloring activity, a reading nook and more. The first lady was among the featured readers at the event’s reading nook, where she read Marilyn Sadler’s book Bunny with a Big Heart to children.
The president thanked his wife for organizing the event prior to them joining the festivities. He said, “I just want to give a special thank you to our great first lady, who organized this entire event. She worked very, very hard on it. She worked very hard. I said, ‘What are you doing?’ She said, ‘I’m working on the Egg Roll.” I said, ‘That sounds like a lot of fun, and we’re going to have a lot of fun in just a couple of minutes.”
Three days before the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, the first lady expressed her thanks to the East Wing Staff for their work on this year’s event. “As families across the nation gather to celebrate Easter, I extend my gratitude to the dedicated East Wing Staff for their tireless effort in preparing the upcoming White House Easter Egg Roll,” Melania wrote on X on April 18. “This cherished tradition, rooted in history since 1878, brings joy, storytelling, and laughter to America’s children. I look forward to watching all of the smiles light up this memorable day, on Monday. May this Good Friday inspire hope and faith for all Americans and our friends around the world.”
President Trump was photographed giving his wife a kiss at the event, and the two of them were also spotted holding hands. Monday wasn’t the first time the Trumps have hosted the event. During President Trump’s first term, they hosted the Easter Egg Roll in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The annual event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The White House Easter Egg Roll is a White House tradition that dates back to 1878. When the initial details for this year’s event were announced in late February, the office of the first lady said, “The President and First Lady look forward to continuing this entertaining tradition and making it a truly memorable experience for all.”
