Frankie Muniz has opened up about hitting “rock bottom”, revealing that the past six weeks of his life have been a “nightmare”.

The former Malcolm in the Middle star, 40, shared an emotional post with his followers on Friday, admitting that he has been going through an incredibly difficult period. “The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,” Frankie began.

“Everything felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time. I wouldn’t wish this season on anyone.”

However, the actor and professional racing driver said the experience had also forced him to take a closer look at his life.

“The unexpected gift in the middle of it is that I’ve had nowhere to hide,” he continued. “I’ve had time to sit with myself, do real self-reflection, and finally see the areas of my life that need work if I want to become a better version of me.

“Not the polished version I show the world… the actual one.”

Frankie went on to reveal that he had been thinking about the idea that sometimes “hitting rock bottom is the thing that wakes you up”.

“In five years I believe I’ll look back at this exact low point and feel grateful for it, because the high I’ll be standing on then only exists because I went through this,” he wrote.

The star ended his candid message on a hopeful note, telling his followers: “This isn’t the end of the story. It’s the part where I start doing the work…the uncomfortable, unglamorous, necessary work.

“I’m choosing to treat this season as the foundation, not the finish line.”

He added: “If you’re in a low place right now too, you’re not broken. You’re being rebuilt. Let’s keep going!”

Fans quickly rallied around Frankie in the comments, with one writing: “You will come through this, Frankie. I’ve been there a couple of times. It’s bloody hard, but I got through it.”

Another follower who said they were also going through a difficult time told the actor they were “grateful” for his post, adding: “We ‘bend’ we do not ‘break!'”

One fan even drew a comparison with his most famous role, writing: “This feels like another episode of Malcolm in the Middle when Malcolm has to realise he’s not a kid anymore and that he’s grown and has to take care of his family.”

Frankie’s post comes just over two months after he and wife Paige Price announced they were ending their marriage after a decade together.

The former couple, who share five-year-old son Mauz, revealed in July that they had already been privately separated and planned to remain close friends and co-parents.

At the time, Frankie said their son remained “the center of our world” and paid tribute to Paige for supporting him throughout their relationship.

He has not revealed whether his latest post is connected to the end of his marriage.
