After nearly nine years of marriage, Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth have gone their separate ways, Page Six reported. The breakup reportedly occurred quietly last year, with no formal statement from either party, and it remains unclear whether divorce papers have been filed.
The 39-year-old actor has since relocated to the New Orleans area, apparently to be closer to family. The news comes shortly after LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations.
The “Transformers” star was held without bond at Orleans Parish Prison on charges of simple battery and was set to appear before a judge the same day. TMZ obtained footage showing LaBeouf shirtless and being treated by paramedics after the incident. His representatives have not commented on the arrest.
Goth, 32, and LaBeouf first met in 2012 on the set of Lars von Trier’s ‘Nymphomaniac: Vol. II,’ which marked Goth’s big-screen debut. Their connection was immediate. The pair were seen making their red carpet debut as a couple in 2014 at the London screening of LaBeouf’s film ‘Fury.’
By 2015, however, their relationship was making headlines for more dramatic reasons. In July of that year, a video surfaced showing the couple engaged in a heated argument outside a German hotel.
Despite the turbulence, the couple married in a Las Vegas ceremony in 2016, officiated by an Elvis impersonator and livestreamed to the public. LaBeouf wore a dark suit with white sneakers, while Goth danced in a white lace gown.
Their mothers attended the ceremony, but local officials later confirmed the marriage was not legally binding. LaBeouf later told ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ “The plan was for it to be a private deal… Part of the package, the King Tut package, you get a live stream for free. We get home and it’s like, ‘Woah hey, listen something changed.’ So I called them up and they said, ‘Somebody pressed the wrong button that sends the video to TMZ.’ We’re proud of it. It was love.”
The pair’s on-and-off romance continued. They filed for divorce in 2018, calling it an “amicable” split. Yet, they were seen wearing wedding rings again in 2020, sparking reconciliation rumors.
By 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Isabel. LaBeouf reflected on Goth’s support during a difficult period in his life, telling Jon Bernthal’s REAL ONES podcast, “She saved my f—— life. She was present for me at a time when I didn’t deserve to have nobody in my life, especially her… She gave me hope when I was really running on fumes.”
Even with moments of tenderness, the couple’s relationship was punctuated by separations and reconciliations. In 2020, they were spotted social distancing together in Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic, both wearing wedding bands.
By the end of 2020, LaBeouf was briefly linked to Margaret Qualley. The couple reunited again in 2021 for bike rides and Disneyland outings, maintaining a public presence as co-parents and partners.
Despite their long history, sources now confirm the latest split. The last known public appearance of LaBeouf and Goth together was in January 2025.
