On December 28, the Portuguese player was recognized at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards as the Middle East Player of the Year, a victory that was made even more meaningful by the unconditional support he received from his future wife, Georgina Rodríguez.
The couple attended the awards ceremony in Dubai, accompanied by another key figure in Ronaldo’s life: his eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. From a young age, Jr. has been his father’s number-one fan and has shown dedication to practicing soccer as he follows in his father’s footsteps.

When discussing his professional career, Ronaldo said that his goal was to keep scoring, winning trophies, and reaching new milestones. This marks the seventh time he has been honored at the Globe Soccer Awards, where he has previously taken home the prize for Best Football Player. In his speech, he also emphasized his pursuit of his 1,000th career goal, a milestone that he’s only 40 goals away from. “
I love playing football, winning trophies, and scoring goals. You all know what my goal is: I want to keep winning trophies and reach the number of goals you know about. I will reach 1,000 goals for sure, as long as I don’t get injured,” he said.
Throughout the evening, other major figures in today’s football world were also recognized, including Ousmane Dembélé, named Player of the Year; Désiré Doué, awarded Best Emerging Player; and Lamine Yamal, honored as Best Forward. When asked about his role model in football, Yamal said, “It’s better not to compare yourself to anyone. Players like Cristiano became who they are by not comparing themselves to anyone and wanting to be themselves.”
