Goldie Hawn is still madly in love with Kurt Russell. The award-winning actress made sure he felt extra special this week as he celebrated another year around the sun.
The Hollywood star took to Instagram to pay a rare tribute to her partner of 43 years to mark his 75th birthday.
Alongside a picture of Kurt sitting in the middle of a field, dressed in a checked shirt teamed with a gilet and jeans, Goldie penned: “Happy birthday to my forever love. 43 years of birthdays together. How lucky are we!!!!”
Messages soon followed, with many fellow celebrities commenting on the sweet post. “True love,” Melanie Griffith wrote, while January Jones responded with two love heart emojis. Michelle Pfeiffer added: “Happy birthday Kurt!”
Goldie and Kurt’s family life
Goldie and Kurt have been together since Valentine’s Day 1983, and have an incredibly happy – and refreshingly normal – life away from the spotlight.
They share son Wyatt, 38, while Kurt is also dad to son Boston, 46, who he shares with ex-wife Season Hubley. Goldie shares older children Oliver, 49, and Kate, 46, with ex-husband Bill Hudson.
Oliver and Kate affectionately call Kurt ‘Pa’. The celebrity couple are also doting grandparents to eight grandchildren.
During an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, the First Wives Club actress said: “A good family is the answer to happiness. I look at our kids and grandchildren and there’s nothing in the world that could make me as proud as I am of all of them.”
Their daughter-in-law, actress Meredith Hagner, spoke fondly of the couple during an interview with US Weekly back in 2024. Meredith and Wyatt are parents to two young sons, Buddy and Boone, who are very close to their grandparents.
“Oh they’re the best. They’re just, like, the greatest people, greatest grandparents,” she said of Goldie and Kurt. She went on to say: “They live down the road from us, so my son is like — that’s their second home. They’ll have a cookie jar that’s always full, and my son knows where it is, and they have a toy box that is always brimming with toys.”
She added that despite their global fame, Goldie and Kurt are incredibly down-to-earth. “The thing that always struck me about meeting them is just how normal they are, like you forget within five seconds [how famous they are],” she shared.
Wyatt, meanwhile, opened up about fatherhood while talking to Entertainment Weekly, shortly after his oldest son Buddy’s arrival.
He said: “Starting with my brother’s or my sister’s first child, they’re Gogo and Gogi. My dad, his wine that he makes is called Gogi because his nickname in life was Gogi, and my mom’s nickname in life was Gogo. So those are what the kids call ’em.”
Why Goldie and Kurt never married
During an interview on The Dan Buettner Podcast, the Oscar-winning actress shared the key to the couple’s successful relationship. “I have a relationship with birds,” she said.
“I’m a bird. And you leave the cage door open, I may never fly out. But if you close that door, for my freedom and my independence, I would probably take all my feathers off.”
Meanwhile, back in 2015, Goldie appeared on Loose Women, where she was asked why she hadn’t married Kurt after all their years together.
She replied: “I would have been long divorced if I’d been married. Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it’s important to be married.
“If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there’s something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other. “For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice.”
