Halle Berry just gave red carpet glamour a masterclass. The Oscar winner stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of “Crime 101” wearing a sleek black power suit and one very dazzling new accessory: her engagement ring from singer Van Hunt.
This marked her first red carpet appearance since accepting Hunt’s proposal, and she made sure the moment counted.
At 59, Halle Berry continues to redefine what timeless beauty looks like in Hollywood. The actress emphasized her willowy physique in a sharply tailored black suit, styled with a plunging silk blouse that added just the right amount of drama. The structured blazer and fluid silk created a contrast that felt modern, confident, and unmistakably star-worthy.
With her hair swept up into a soft, textured updo and face-framing bangs, Berry leaned into effortless elegance. Her makeup highlighted her luminous complexion, glowing skin, and softly defined eyes. She flashed her signature megawatt smile, commanding attention with ease.
Yet even in a look this polished, something else stole the spotlight.
The Engagement Ring That Stole the Show
Berry subtly clutched her lapels as she posed for photographers, a move that placed her left hand squarely in view. The gesture was intentional and effective. Her engagement ring shimmered under the flashbulbs, impossible to ignore.
The statement piece features an Art Deco design, with black stones arranged in a bold geometric pattern surrounding a central diamond. The architectural lines and high-contrast palette give the ring a vintage-inspired edge, while still feeling completely contemporary.
Rather than opting for a classic solitaire, Berry’s ring leans into individuality. The dark stones framing the diamond add depth and drama, elevating the sparkle and creating a design that feels personal and distinctive.
A Six-Figure Sparkler
Jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia, founder of Abelini, shared an estimate of the ring’s value. “Based on the visible scale of the ring, the apparent quality of the stones, and the complexity of the bespoke setting, my professional valuation would place the ring in the region of $120,000 to $200,000,” he told the Daily Mail.
That valuation reflects not only the size of the central diamond but also the craftsmanship involved in creating such a detailed Art Deco setting. Custom designs of this scale require precision work, particularly when incorporating contrasting stones into a geometric framework.
In other words, this is not something pulled from a standard jewelry case. It appears thoughtfully designed, likely with Berry’s bold aesthetic in mind.
A New Chapter for Halle Berry and Van Hunt
Berry and Van Hunt have kept much of their relationship private, but their bond has been visible in carefully shared moments over the years. The proposal marks a new chapter for the couple, and Berry’s decision to debut the ring at a major film premiere feels symbolic.
The Academy Award winner officially confirmed she is engaged to longtime partner Van Hunt during a Feb. 6 appearance on The Tonight Show. The “Monster’s Ball” actress set the record straight about rumors that she had rejected a proposal from the musician last year.
“There’s some confusion,” she told Jimmy Fallon. “It’s going around that I, that my guy Van Hunt—I’ve been dating him now for almost six years—well, there’s some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no.”
“However, I did not say no,” Halle affirmed. “We just don’t have a date, but of course I said yes, I would marry him!” As Fallon congratulated her, the X-Men star added with a smile, “He did put a little ring on it.”
Halle’s confirmation arrives eight months after Van revealed that he had already proposed. “So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,” he shared during an interview for Today.com in June. “It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”
At the time, Halle explained her hesitation had nothing to do with doubt about their relationship. “Well, I’ve been married three times,” Halle—previously wed to David Justice, Eric Benét, and Olivier Martinez—explained. “Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”
Even without a wedding date, Halle was open about how meaningful this relationship has been. In fact, she suggested that Van might be the partner she was always meant to build a future with.
