The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently on a surprise two-day visit to Jordan, a country with strong historic ties to the United Kingdom. It’s also a country that holds personal significance for Kate Middleton, who spent part of her childhood there.
A humanitarian mission with the WHO
The trip, which runs through Thursday, centers on global health and mental health support, causes that have long been championed by the Sussexes. The visit is being carried out in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and is not connected to the British government or the Crown.
During their stay in Amman, the couple is participating in discussions and site visits focused on strengthening healthcare systems and expanding mental health services for vulnerable communities affected by conflict and displacement. They are expected to work alongside WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to spotlight humanitarian responses and long-term recovery efforts.
The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between Harry and the WHO, dating back to the COVID-19 pandemic and global vaccination campaigns. Harry also met with Tedros in London last September, underscoring ongoing coordination between the Sussexes and the global health body.

This marks the Sussexes’ first major international trip in a year and a half. Their most recent visits abroad included Nigeria in May 2024 and Colombia in August 2024, with both trips focused on philanthropic outreach following their decision to step back from senior royal duties in 2020.
Through their foundation, Archewell, Harry and Meghan have continued to prioritize mental health advocacy, humanitarian relief, and support for communities impacted by war and displacement. The foundation has also backed aid efforts in Gaza, reinforcing its broader global focus.

The organization provides hot meals in areas affected by natural disasters and armed conflict and was one of Archewell’s earliest partners.
Their itinerary includes a stop at the Za’atari refugee camp, home to displaced Syrians, where they will meet with Questscope representatives to highlight mental health services, physical rehabilitation programs, and community support for those affected by war and serious illness.
