‘Her priority is their daughter’

The focus around Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth has quietly shifted to their new relationship after their split and their coparenting agreements as they continue to navigate their new lives and busy work schedules. 

The former couple, whose 13-year on-again, off-again love story has played out across film sets, red carpets, and headlines, separated quietly in early 2025. Yet despite the split and LaBeouf’s recent legal troubles, those close to them say their commitment to co-parenting 3-year-old Isabel remains steady.

“Their relationship has always been complicated,” a source told People. “They weren’t getting along and had a lot of drama last year.” Insiders describe the dynamic as cordial, functional, and notably “non-toxic,” with both actors maintaining communication for the sake of their daughter, who was born in 2022.

“She loves him, but she also doesn’t need him. She’s very independent. She has her own life, her own career, and her priority is their daughter. Shia loves their daughter and stays in touch,” the source added.

News of the separation surfaced just days after LaBeouf’s Feb. 17 arrest in New Orleans, where he faces two counts of simple battery following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations. 

The arrest comes amid a period of geographic and emotional transition. Following the split, LaBeouf relocated from Los Angeles to New Orleans, a move Goth reportedly “encouraged,” according to the publication.

While their romantic relationship had reached its breaking point, sources say Goth remains concerned for his well-being, even as she focuses on motherhood.

Goth has spoken openly about how becoming a parent reshaped her world. In an October 2025 interview with Elle, she described parenting as “a really psychedelic experience” and called her daughter “the greatest gift of my life.”

Friends say that perspective has guided her decisions since the separation. While LaBeouf’s life has continued to oscillate between reinvention and controversy, including a settled lawsuit brought by former girlfriend FKA Twigs, whose allegations he has denied, Goth’s priorities have narrowed to something simpler and more grounded.

LaBeouf, for his part, has publicly expressed how transformative fatherhood has been. In 2022, he told Jon Bernthal on the Real Ones podcast, “Out of this newfound discovery of real love in my life [comes] this kid.”

Those close to the pair stress that while the romance has ended, perhaps for good, the partnership in parenting continues. “They weren’t getting along and had a lot of drama last year,” the insider reiterated. But when it comes to their daughter, the tone is different, and communication remains open.
