Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June showcases her weight loss in latest outing

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon was spotted making a rare public appearance at SiriusXM Studios in Manhattan on Wednesday. 

With daughters Lauryn Efird (Pumpkin), Alana Thompson (Honey Boo Boo) and Jessica Shannon (Chubbs) in tow, she stepped out in a pretty white crochet-style top, embellished with black flowers, teamed with black drawstring pants and white sneakers.

The reality TV veteran appeared the most svelte we’ve ever seen her, also sporting sleek new red tresses, a change from her signature blond locks, and to further enhance her look, perfectly fixed teeth.

Throughout her long weight loss journey Mama June has dropped from 500lbs to around 150lbs, yo-yoing up and down in between using various fad diets.

The 46-year-old underwent gastric sleeve bypass surgery in 2015, but later gained 100 pounds due to immense stress, when supporting her eldest daughter, Anna, through a horrific cancer battle. Anna tragically passed away aged 29 in December 2023.

She then turned to frequent semaglutide injections, which allowed her to shed the weight over time. June revealed that she had stopped taking the injections in December 2024, after going on vacation and leaving it at home.

“After ten days I realised I could go without it and didn’t go back on it,” she explained, saying she now managed to maintain her figure due to a healthy lifestyle.

However, after her latest appearance on Wednesday, fans debated on X as to whether the reality TV star has returned to weight loss injections to shed the weight.

“She must be on a weight loss drug, she has dropped so many pounds, ” said one, while another exclaimed, “Skinny June is here, thanks to Ozempic!”

Earlier this week Shannon, who has experienced a number of health scares over the years, opened up to Virtual Reali-Tea co-hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy about a recent health scare that left fans concerned and prompted her family to rally around her.

“I had a total hysterectomy unexpectedly last year – last April,” she said, revealing that fibroid cysts had caused her quite a scare, particularly after what daughter Anna went through.

In July a psychic at daughter Jessica Shannon’s bachelorette party warned her about an impending health issue, and Mama June found herself admitted to hospital just hours after in severe pain, which turned out to be due to ovarian cysts.

“I was worried it was going to be ovarian cancer,” confessed the Mama June: Family Crisis star, who admits she is still dealing with medical issues, but doesn’t want to go public about these, “Until we find out where we are and what the treatment is going to be”.

The well-known Mum has now been sober and drug-free for over five years, surviving a public battle with addiction.

After the trauma of losing her daughter in 2023, she then went through a custody battle with former son-in-law Michael Cardwell for the guardianship of grandchild Kaitlyn, 12, which she subsequently won.

“Kaitlyn’s been here for over a year now,” she told People, admitting that it’s been an adjustment for her and new partner Justin Shroud.

“It’s kind of an adjustment for me and Justin because honestly, the first year of our relationship we didn’t have any kids in the house.”

As to her weight loss secret – for the moment speculation continues on whether weight loss drugs are involved – or whether healthy lifestyle choices the star embraced in 2024 have really paid off. “You have to make it a lifestyle change. So I made the lifestyle changes, and I know I can move forward with the lifestyle changes.”
